Breast Reduction for Women & Men

If your large breasts make you uncomfortable, embarrassed, limit your physical capability, or cause you physical pain, a breast reduction may be right for you.

Who is it for?

If your large breasts make you uncomfortable, embarrassed, limit your physical capability, or cause you physical pain, a breast reduction may be right for you. Breast reduction can also correct asymmetry in breast size—Dr. Nguyen will make sure your final result is as symmetrical as possible.

How does it work?

If you only require a minor breast size reduction, Dr. Nguyen will use liposuction. Otherwise, Dr. Nguyen will use the same anchor-shaped incision he would use for a breast lift, where the incision circles the areola and then runs vertically from the base of the areola to the lower portion of the breast. After removing excess breast tissue and skin, Dr. Nguyen will reposition your nipple higher on your breasts.

What happens after the procedure?

You will most likely experience swelling after your breast reduction procedure. You can reduce swelling by taking care of yourself properly: get plenty of sleep (with pillows under your back to elevate your breast area), drink lots of water, and avoid sodium in your diet. Dr. Nguyen will give you specific instructions for caring for yourself after your surgery.

Depending on your procedure, you may have a drain (tube) inserted to help remove fluids from the breast tissue and reduce swelling. You will need to care for the drain and your incisions properly and carefully. The scars from your breast reduction may be prominent at first, but they should diminish over time.
