Body Lift

Most body lift patients have experienced drastic weight loss that left them with sagging skin and stubborn fat deposits around their midsection, buttocks, hips, and thighs.

Who is it for?

Most body lift patients have experienced drastic weight loss that left them with sagging skin and stubborn fat deposits around their midsection, buttocks, hips, and thighs. The sagging skin is not only unsightly; it can also be very uncomfortable and cause hygienic complications. A body lift can correct these issues and give the patient a firmer, smoother mid-body area.

How does it work?

Also called belt lipectomy surgery, the body lift procedure removes a “belt” of skin, fat, and tissue from the midsection, allowing the surgeon to pull the lower portions up and the upper portions down, resulting in a smoother, more taut appearance. While you are under general anesthesia, Dr. Nguyen will make incisions following your skin’s natural folds all the way around your midsection in order to remove the belt of excess skin and tissue. Liposuction may also be required to improve the contours of your midsection. After liposuction and skin/tissue removal, Dr. Nguyen will place internal sutures to support your new shape, and external sutures to close your incisions.

What happens after the procedure?

Because of the extensive nature of the body lift procedure, you may require significant recovery time. After your surgery, you will be responsible for properly caring for your incisions and fluid drains. Recovery time and recommendations vary by each patient’s specific procedure, so Dr. Nguyen will give you instructions for your recovery to help you achieve the best results from your surgery.
