Body Contouring After Major Weight Loss
Body contouring after major weight loss is for people who want to remove this extra fat and tissue and gain a smoother, tighter appearance.
Who is it for?
After major weight loss, your skin and tissues may not be able to constrict to your new smaller size. Loose, sagging skin, flattened breasts, and stubborn pockets of fat are all common effects of major weight loss. Body contouring after major weight loss is for people who want to remove this extra fat and tissue and gain a smoother, tighter appearance. You should keep in mind that if you are still on your weight loss journey, you may want to wait until you have reached your final weight goal. As you continue to lose weight, you will continue to develop loose skin. Conversely, if you gain a significant amount of weight after your procedure, you will do damage to skin that is already weakened by the body contouring procedure. Before undergoing body contouring, you need to be at a stable weight.
How does it work?
You will meet with Dr. Nguyen to design a body contouring procedure to correct your specific problem areas. The procedure may include liposuction and/or lifts of various body areas (arm, breast, tummy tuck, thigh, buttocks). Dr. Nguyen will strategically place your incisions so as to make your scarring as inconspicuous as possible.
What happens after the procedure?
After your body contouring procedure, you will be responsible for properly caring for your incisions and drains, if they have been inserted. Recovery time and recommendations vary by each patient’s specific procedure, so Dr. Nguyen will give you instructions for your recovery to help you achieve the best results from your surgery.
