Liposuction

Liposuction is right for people with stubborn areas of fat that persist despite healthy diet and exercise routines.

Who is it for?

Liposuction is right for people with stubborn areas of fat that persist despite healthy diet and exercise routines. If you are interested in major weight loss, liposuction is not the solution. Liposuction is for people leading healthy lifestyles who want to target particular problem areas and improve body contours.

How does it work?

In the first step of liposuction, Dr. Nguyen will infuse the area to be treated with a sterile liquid to reduce trauma, as fluid will be removed along with fat during the liposuction procedure. Next, Dr. Nguyen will make small incisions that will allow him to insert the tube that loosens the fat (the cannula) when moved back and forth. Finally, the loosened fat is removed from the body using a surgical vacuum or syringe, and the incisions are closed.

What happens after the procedure?

In order for you to achieve the best contouring, you will need to wear special compression garments after your surgery to combat swelling and help your skin and tissue conform to its new shape. You may also have drains (thin tubes) inserted to help remove fluid that collects in the treated areas. You will need to care for the drains and/or incisions to reduce the risk of infection.

You can prolong the results of your liposuction by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Liposuction does leave some fat cells in the treated areas, so it is possible to regain weight there if you are not diligent.
