Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck can help lift, tighten, and smooth the abdominal area. Abdominal tone and skin elasticity are often lost due to aging, genetics, pregnancy, and weight fluctuation.
Who is it for?
A tummy tuck can help lift, tighten, and smooth the abdominal area. Abdominal tone and skin elasticity are often lost due to aging, genetics, pregnancy, and weight fluctuation. Good candidates for abdominoplasty are people at a stable weight who want to have a firmer, slimmer abdominal area.
How does it work?
After you are sedated, Dr. Nguyen will make a horizontal incision in the lower part of your abdominal area, taking care to place it where it can be hidden by clothing once it is healed. He will then remove excess fat and tissue, and trim excess skin in order to give your midsection a more taut appearance. If needed, he will also use sutures to pull in and tighten weakened abdominal muscles. He will then close your incisions.
What happens after the procedure?
After your surgery, you may not be able to stand fully upright, but you should start walking and moving around as soon as possible. Get plenty of rest and take care of your incisions and drains (small tubes inserted to remove excess fluid from the surgery site). You will likely experience swelling, but Dr. Nguyen will give you special compression garments to reduce it and support your midsection. Dr. Nguyen will give you specific instructions for recovery, including when to come in for follow-up visits to remove your drains and sutures, when you can go back to work, and when you can resume normal exercise and other activities. You will have a scar from your surgery, but most tummy tuck patients find the scar preferable to sagging skin and excess fat.
